In 1896, Solomon Schechter entered the sacred storeroom of an ancient synagogue in Cairo and discovered a vast treasure trove of manuscripts. They illuminate over a thousand years of vibrant Jewish, Christian and Muslim life in the heart of the Islamic world, revealing a golden age of religious tolerance nearly unimaginable today.

Join local educator (and popular “Live & Learn” instructor) Steve Kerbel, for a conversation about the Cairo Geniza, following a 4 pm screening of the documentary film in the Sanctuary. All are welcome! No charge.
