Words that Matter: Embracing Our Values
Join us as we explore some of the ways we’ve grown these past two years. Amidst the grief, loneliness and uncertainty so many of us have experienced, we have also seen remarkable examples of resilience, gratitude and opportunity.
In this 3-part workshop series, which will feature our facilitator, Karen Hoffman, via Zoom, we will have the opportunity to listen, talk, share and contemplate words that matter and how we can use this time as a period of growth.
In our effort to cultivate personal and spiritual growth through a Jewish lens, we will spend time together and individually, reflecting on word pairs – like gratitude & generosity, rest & play, resilience & growth – and cultivating practices to enhance our lives through these values. There will be time for personal reflection (on and off-screen) as well as small group conversations, as we study written passages, play some games, and explore new ways that we can use words and practices to bring more attention to intentional living. Participants are asked to bring paper and a writing tool with them for some of the activities we’ll be doing together.
Check Temple eblast for Zoom link or contact Shelly Gordon.
ABOUT OUR FACILITATOR:
Karen Hoffman will be our guest facilitator for this series of interactive sessions. Karen worked at a large Reform congregation in Dallas for nearly 15 years, helping individuals on their Jewish journeys, working with small groups and large groups as they engage in life through a Jewish lens. Karen has been trained as a facilitator through the Institute for Jewish Spirituality (IJS). Recently, Karen was featured on the Jewish Sacred Aging – Seekers of Meaning podcast, hosted by Rabbi Richard Address. Karen is playfully referred to as the Chief Engagement Officer (she’s the founder and CEO) of Living on Purpose, a company dedicated to helping individuals and groups bring more attention to intentional living – through the cultivation of practices involving mindfulness, universal values, and creative techniques that open our hearts and minds to new ways of living on purpose.
