Screening of “1945” Yom HaShoah Commemoration Tues, April 30 (6:30 pm)
April 30, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Temple Beth Ami is proud to host a screening of the film, “1945,” in commemoration of Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day, on Tuesday, April 30 (6:30 pm). On a summer day in 1945, an Orthodox man and his grown son return to a village in Hungary while the villagers prepare for the wedding of the town clerk’s son. The townspeople, suspicious, remorseful, fearful and cunning – expect the worst and behave accordingly.
The film, “1945,” presents a complex picture of a society trying to come to terms with the recent horrors they’ve experienced, perpetrated, or just tolerated for personal gain. The film was the Audience Award Winner at Jewish Film Festivals around the world in 2017. The screening is generously supported by the Oscar Pohoryles Holocaust Education Endowment Fund.
