Dan Lee
Interim Soloist at TBA
Dan Lee is proud to serve as the interim soloist at Temple Beth Ami. With nearly 20 years of experience, he has contributed musically to multiple congregations and organizations across the country. Playing guitar, bass, and cello, he has been a member of the House Band at Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) Biennials since 2013, serves as an integral part of the music team at the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization (BBYO) International Conventions since 2015, and regularly records and tours with bands and top Jewish musicians.
Originally from Oklahoma City, Dan recently relocated to the DMV area after spending over a decade in Texas. He is a proud product of NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth) and URJ Greene Family Camp, where he deepened his love for Judaism and music. Dan further honed his skills by studying Music Production and Performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
In addition to his musical talents, Dan is a lifelong techie. Over the past few years, he has consulted with congregations and businesses nationwide, helping them reimagine their digital offerings. By joining Temple Beth Ami, Dan is excited to be part of a community that exemplifies its values through a longstanding commitment to inclusion and innovation.
Dan resides in Northwest DC with his wife, Mindy, and their dog, Tux.
Dan’s primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading us in song during Shabbat services on Friday nights and Saturday B’nei Mitzvah
- Joining the rabbis and Cantorial Soloist Joshana Erenberg during High Holy Day services in a supporting role
- Leading the Shabbatones (our TBA band) for Picnic Shabbats and other events including Shabbanukah
- Collaborating with our Purim Shpiel volunteer director, including providing technical support
- Supporting congregants during times of loss by leading shiva minyanim
- Planning and participating in music education in Machane TBA (religious school) and Gan Ami (preschool)
- Leading Machane TBA’s song leader program
- Collaborating with TBA TV volunteers including enhancing current processes and resources to upgrade the overall experience of our livestreaming and hybrid programs
