Encore "Happy Hour' with Historian Jane F. Levey

06 Mar @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

On Wednesday, March 6th from 4-6 pm, Encore is having a “happy hour” with a very special speaker. Historian Jane F. Levey will be giving an  illustrated talk uncovering the origins of Washington, DC.  She will be describing its people, neighborhoods, development, and the often fraught relationship between the local city and the federal government. Her photos, maps, and original research will bust myths and may reshape what you know about our “hometown”. Ms. Levey recently retired as chief historian, curator, and media spokesperson for the DC History Center.  She is co-author with Bob Levey of “Washington Album: A Pictorial History of the Nation’s Capital”. Ms. Levey holds a B.A. from Wellesley College and an M.A. in American Studies from George Washington University. We welcome everyone for a delightful conversation on this fascinating topic.

RSVP no later than March 1st so that we have appropriate seating to: Linda Cohen by email, lincohen@hotmail.com, or phone, 301-947-4773. While there is no cost for the program, please let Linda know if you can contribute – an appetizer, a sweet, wine, or an interesting munchies for us to all share. We look forward to a robust welcome for Ms. Levey on March 6th.
