The Literacy Council of Montgomery County
The Council is working to keep students and their families safe. All programming for the summer was online; a decision about the fall is still to be made if students will physically be back in classrooms. Even with COVID learners have continued to seek out classes. This past academic year, programs served more students than ever before, and while doing that, the Council also developed its own digital literacy curriculum, which ensures that when students come for services, they will learn the basics of how to get online before starting any classes.
Upcoming events include:
- Annual conference on adult education and its ability to bring about social change (the C2C Conference) will be happening on October 23rd all day. This is an online event and free for all.
- Bridging the Gap event, focusing on the Muslim community by using the wonderful novel, Native Believer as a jumping off, point will be held on October 28th. You can sign up here
