Zoom Author Talk: Yishai Ishi Ron, Author of Dog
25 Jan @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Join us on Zoom for a powerful conversation with Israeli author Yishai Ishi Ron about his acclaimed novel Dog, a searing work of literary fiction that confronts the invisible scars of war.
A former elite combat soldier and survivor of severe PTSD, Ron draws on his personal experience and academic background in psychology to explore themes of trauma, resilience, and redemption with remarkable emotional depth. Writing has been central to his healing journey, and Dog transforms deeply personal wounds into a story that is both intensely intimate and universally resonant.
The Hebrew edition of Dog was long-listed for the Sapir Prize, Israel’s most prestigious literary award, and was recently recommended by the National Library of Israel as one of the most important contemporary works on post-trauma. The English translation, by acclaimed New York–based translator Yardenne Greenspan, has attracted international attention and wide critical praise. Celebrated filmmaker Eran Riklis (The Syrian Bride, Reading Lolita in Tehran) has committed to adapting the novel into a feature film.
Ron is also the author of Holiday Apocalypse, nominated for the Geffen Award, and Vincent’s Nose, a children’s book adapted into an award-winning play. Across genres, his writing explores the fragile boundary between suffering and survival, silence and voice, despair and imagination.
