Yom HaShoah Commemoration
30 Apr @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Join us, either in person or via livestream, for our annual commemoration of Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day. Our evening will commence with a solemn commemoration service at 6:30 pm, followed by a compelling conversation with Louise Lawrence-Israëls, a Holocaust survivor. Mrs. Lawrence-Israëls will be present at TBA to share her poignant story firsthand. Rabbi Pokras will guide the conversation, allowing attendees to gain deeper insights into her experiences. This event offers a meaningful opportunity to honor the memory of those lost during the Holocaust and to learn from survivors like Mrs. Lawrence-Israëls. Join us for an evening of remembrance, reflection, and education.
TBAjrHigh and TBAHigh students will attend this commemoration as part of their programming. All Machane TBA parents, TBA congregants and the community are welcome.
This program is supported by the Oscar Pohoryles Holocaust Education Endowment Fund.
About Louise Lawrence-Israëls
At six months old, Louise Israëls went into hiding with her family and a friend of her parents. For two and a half years she lived in an attic, never feeling the sun’s rays or the grass under her feet. Sometimes the only food she had was warm water. But Louise was never afraid because her parents made life as normal as possible for her and her brother: “They never talked about the outside world.”
