Health and Nutrition

TBA’s Tikkun Olam Committee provides a wide range of support for individuals and families who lack food security in our community or who would otherwise benefit from food-related service projects. Please click below to learn more about the many ways you can help. Each link includes detailed information including the congregant(s) coordinating each project. Please reach out to these volunteers to get involved or to learn the project’s status due to the pandemic.

TBA Contact: Jeanne Kahn or Elizabeth Joseloff

Volunteers are needed periodically during the year to provide breakfasts, lunches, and to serve dinner at the Interfaith Works Women’s Center, a shelter in Rockville. The Temple provides all of the meals at this shelter during a week in the summer as well as when the need arises during the year.

Nourish Now also needs volunteers daily to package meals/healthy snack packs, as well as to run canned food drives and raise awareness. TBA members also support Nourish Now’s Thanksgiving Food Drive.

If you have fresh food leftover from an event that you’d like to donate, call Nourish Now at 301-330-0222 (Mon.–Fri., 10 a.m.–5 p.m.) or 240-750-0747 (nights/weekends) to coordinate the donation.
