STUDENT COUNCIL

The TBAHigh Student Council is comprised of the Executive Board, Cabinet Members and Committees. These teen leaders help to shape all aspects of TBAHigh programming.

EXECUTIVE BOARD

The Executive Board leads the Student Council Committees to plan programs for the year. It meets every week when TBAHigh is in session. 9th-12th graders are eligible to hold Executive Board Positions.

Executive Board Position Descriptions:

Responsibilities of Executive Board Members
Student Council Exec Board will meet once a week on Tuesdays directly following TBAHigh for 45 minutes to plan programming.

Attend Student Council Overnight Training prior to the start of school. Date and time TBD

Commit to an additional 1-2 hours each week to help plan and implement Student Council ideas.

Student Council Exec. Board will be leaders and role models at all TBAHigh programs and events.

Board will influence TBAHigh culture, programs, events and create a Jewish community (Kehillah) of teens who are invested in TBAHigh.

Each Vice President will lead a committee.

Each Vice President with support, mentor, and collaborate with their Cabinet member.

Be accessible via email and phone to the TBAHigh Advisor and Exec Board to discuss programming.

Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance at TBAHigh and TBAHigh affiliated events and programs.

Student Council Exec Board will be present from 6:00-6:30 pm on Tuesday nights to meet and greet students and assist selling pizza.
President description

The President is responsible for leading the Student Council, delegating duties, and supporting the Vice Presidents and Student Council projects.

The President is the liaison between the TBAHigh Exec Board and the Youth Advisor.

President engages in student outreach to foster Kehillah. The President creates an agenda for Executive Board Meetings and leads them to discuss and review prior events and committee updates for upcoming programs.

On Leadership nights they act as liaison to all committees by attending their meetings and providing overall support.
Membership & Communications Vice President description

The Memberships & Communications Vice President is responsible for keeping the @tbayouth social media accounts updated and active. Membership & Communications VP is responsible for producing and posting appropriate marketing material for Student Council and TBAHigh events.

This VP will be the liaison between NFTY and BBYO promoting their events and getting TBAHigh students to participate in them.

Membership & Communications VP will engage in student outreach to foster Kehillah, track and retain engagement and write the tribune article quarterly.
Programming Vice President description

Programming VP and Programming Committee will review, evaluate, and improve the Tochniyot (large scale programs). This committee will help plan at least one Tochnit.

The Programming VP will serve as the liaison between the advisors and Student Council Exec Board. PVP attends Executive Board Meetings to discuss and review prior events and committee updates for upcoming programs
Religious & Cultural Vice President description

Responsibilities include planning the Teen High Holiday service alongside the clergy, Havdalah for the 9th Grade Retreat and other applicable programming, leading Hanukkah blessings during TBAHigh dinner etc.

The RCVP works with Student Council to bring Judaism into every facet of TBAHigh. The RCVP works in partnership with the advisor, and alongside their committee to respond to lifecycle events (illness, congratulatory, death, etc.)

CABINET MEMBERS

Cabinet members are mentored by the Executive Board. They work in partnership on planning and implementing TBAHigh programming and leading small portions of the committee on Leadership Nights. The goal of Cabinet Member is to learn best practices and feel prepared for future leadership roles at TBAHigh.
