Immigration Shabbat
03 Apr @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Join us for a meaningful Immigration Shabbat as we come together in reflection, learning, and community. Rooted in the Jewish value of welcoming the stranger, this special evening invites us to open our hearts and deepen our understanding of the immigrant experience—especially poignant as we gather during Passover, a holiday that reminds us of our own journey from oppression to freedom.
We are honored to welcome guest speaker Dr. Habib Barra, a former pediatrician and USAID advisor, who will share his powerful personal story of evacuating Afghanistan with his family and rebuilding his life in the United States. Through his experience, Dr. Barra will speak to the challenges of professional disruption, displacement, and adaptation, as well as the resilience that carries individuals and families forward. He will be joined by Amy Hoang Wrona of Homes Not Borders, offering additional perspective on supporting those starting anew in unfamiliar places.
