Taught by Steve Kerbel through the Haberman Institute
For a small country 6,000 miles away with fewer than 10 million residents, Israel features prominently as a topic in the American Jewish community, American news media and on the world stage. In this 3-week mini course, we will learn about various aspects of Israeli society from three of its outstanding authors of modern fiction: Amos Oz, Meir Shalev and Etgar Keret. Register early, as there will be a packet of stories to read prior to the first class. (All text will be in English). No charge for TBA members, but you must pre-register to get Zoom link.
Steve Kerbel is the principal of Steven Kerbel Educational Consulting in Rockville, Maryland, where he trains teachers and writes curricula for congregational, day schools and Federations throughout the US. In what seems like a different lifetime, Steve earned a law degree and was in the private practice of law for eight years. Among Steve’s consulting activities, he facilitates wine tastings featuring Israeli wines and teaches about the geography of diversity of Israel through its wines and wine makers.
Check Temple email for PRE-REGISTRATION link. Once registered through the Haberman Institute (no charge), you will receive the Zoom link.
