Topic: Easing into Elul
As we approach the holiest of days in our Jewish calendar, we are asked to spend time noticing things in a more intentional way and, as we move through the High Holy Days, we are asked to spend more time reflecting on the past year and what’s ahead.
Join us for an online, interactive adult learning experience where we will discuss and explore the intersection of:
Forgiveness & Release (on 9/6)
When we practice forgiveness, we are preparing ourselves in a positive way to accept where we are. We release that which we can forgive, in order to move forward. We also release through the important act of teshuvah. During this Hebrew month of Elul, we begin the High Holy Day season, starting with our own personal heshbon hanefesh (meaning “accounting of the soul”). Each of us is invited to engage in a period of introspection and reflection. During these weeks preceding the New Year and Yom Kippur, we examine where we have fallen short in recent months and we take account of how we might improve going forward. To that end, we may need to practice forgiveness of ourselves and others, as well as releasing that which might be impeding our growth and joy in life.
Awareness & Reflection (on 9/13)
As we approach the holiest of days in our Jewish calendar, we are asked to spend time noticing things in a more intentional way and as the days move through the High Holy Day season, we are asked to spend more time reflecting on the past year and what’s ahead. Join us for an on-line, interactive adult learning experience where we will discuss and explore the intersection of awareness and reflection in our own lives. As values expressed in our own Jewish liturgy, we will explore ways we can bring meaningful action into our lives and what that might look like during the High Holy Days and beyond.
As values expressed in our own Jewish liturgy, we will explore ways we can bring meaningful action into our lives and what that might look like during the High Holy Days and beyond. Join us as we explore deeper meanings of these two words, their interconnectedness, and how we can each spend the next few weeks doing a deep dive into this important element of our holiest time of the Jewish year.
This is going to be an interactive workshop, similar to the three workshops we offered in May, with Karen Hoffman, Founder and CEO of Living on Purpose. Through her attention to intentional living, with words that matter, Karen will once again share a thought-provoking, insightful, and self-examining experience for participants over Zoom. Join us to continue your own journey through Elul and into the New Year. See Temple eblast for Zoom link.
