Live & Learn with Jewish Art Education My Brother’s Keeper Tues., Aug. 17 (10:30-11:30 AM)
August 17, 2021 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
This program is derived from a book by Israel Bernbaum, who dedicated it to all the children on our planet. He offered his ardent wish that they live in security in a world of love, brotherhood, and peace.
The title comes from Genesis 4:9. God asked Cain about the whereabouts of his brother, Abel: “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Cain replied. God said that ‘the voice of your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.’
Through the author’s illustrations and documentary photographs, he tells the story of the Warsaw Ghetto and its uprising. The artist/author calls for a world where human dignity is respected, and human life is sacred.
Join Nancy Kotz, an art historian and nonprofit professional, for this lecture through Jewish Art Education (JAE). All are welcome to join us in the Temple library.
