Machane TBA B'Yachad Stage 1
stage 1 word swag

Redesigned online program with extended Zoom instructional hours, enhanced and redeveloped curriculum and at-home grade level kits provided for each student with resources and materials.

UPDATE – FEB. 11, 2021

With Spring in mind, we wanted to share the decision to remain online through the end of the year. We have been inspired by the vibrant community we have been able to create online and look forward to making sure we end this year with the same level of excitement and success we have felt throughout.

The spring kits that parents recently picked up provide hands on materials through May and allow us to continue to bring the curriculum to life in a way that has been best for our faculty and families at this time. We are excited to complement the success of our online learning with optional in-person opportunities which we will share as they become available and health metrics allow.

Our hope by sharing this information now was to provide some resolution during a year of uncertainty, allowing us and each of you to plan accordingly for the remainder of the year.

As we focus on a strong end of the year, know that we are actively preparing for when we are back together in person, both for our 6 week specialty camp program this summer and for Machane TBA this fall.

We believe that in order for a child to be able to learn, they must feel safe and supported in their learning environment through strong relationships with peers and staff.

We believe that in order for a child to be able to learn, they must feel safe and supported in their learning environment through strong relationships with peers and staff.

This year at Machane TBA we will focus on creating strong relationships and fostering meaningful kehillah by prioritizing:

  • Friendships and class groupings from last year when possible to build on existing relationships.
  • A 15-20 minute block during each session specifically geared towards building relationships. This teacher facilitated time is designed to connect students together in creative ways over Zoom (i.e. interactive games, weekly chai (life) updates and more!)
  • Informal enrichment opportunities to build relationships (i.e game nights, yoga or cooking classes and more!)
  • Sharing family contact information on class lists so students can be in touch outside of school hours.

Ways we will get to know each other:

  • Parent questionnaire
  • Child personal interest questionnaire
  • Offer one on one or small group teacher/student Zoom session prior to opening of school
  • “Back to Machane Meetings”- Class wide teacher/parent Zoom meeting available on opening day
  • Opportunity for individual parent/teacher Zoom meetings

We have redesigned our Jewish Studies and Hebrew curriculum to include lessons, activities and choice opportunities that best embrace our new medium of online education.

These goals are being accomplished through:

  • Piloting summer online Hebrew classes and refining best practices and benefits of online Hebrew instruction.
  • Updating our materials and textbooks to ensure we are utilizing the most effective education resources.
  • Establishing a new Jewish Studies approach with a focus on holidays and Torah explored in engaging new ways.
  • Adapting class schedule and format to maximize class time.
  • Creating web based monthly pages (starting in September) designed to supplement and complement online and in person programming and provide additional content for students not comfortable attending in person sessions.
  • One on one Hebrew instruction is available
Grade Level Kits image

To further support our families, we are creating tangible grade level kits so that students can easily access and organize materials when participating in our newly redesigned program while babayit (at home).  The kits will contain essential resources and materials to complement and supplement the live online classes.
